Generally, a few people, probably except for specialists, have ever head about a majority of so-called «the second echelon» companies of Russia’s steel industry. It deals mainly with obsolete production facilities with outmoded equipment and out-of-date technologies. Moreover, as a rule such facilities are narrowly focused on firmly limited scope of product lines, which are marginally profitable under the current conditions of the Russian market. However, it is the narrow specialization, which is expected to render profitability to the business of ESTAR, a holding formed in the previous year and an owner of a number of outdated production facilities.
