    Aggressive development of electric steel production began in Russia. New electric arc furnaces are being built at big integrated works, in-line of casting-and-rolling complexes of tube companies and within the frame of mini-mill projects. It brings forth a higher interest in raw materials, equipment and technologies related to electric steelmaking. In this field the experience of Russian steelmakers is not large and centralized at the Oskol Electric Steel Works (OEMK) built twenty years ago but under permanent modernization and in line with up-to-date world level in technical conditions.
