The Government of Russia reforms the customs

    Russia’s state frontiers extend for 61,000 km – half as long again the Equator. At that Russia borders with sixteen countries, and there are no other countries in the world with the same number of neighbors. And the intercourse with them calls for a corresponding service of customs control.
    The Russian customs structure includes more than 400 border checkpoints. Though customs problems were present all the time, of late they were especially in focus owing to corruption cases revealed recently and, in particular, for the reason of a hard declaration made by the President who demanded to put in order the customs checkpoints in the shortest possible time.
