RUSSIA AND WTO: AN EXPRESSIVE PAUSE

    Russia decided to slow down the pace of negotiations with the US on parameters of joining the WTO. The negotiation process is not officially broken off and so far there is a technical ability for Russia to enter this organization before the end of 2006. However, the heads of the working group at the negotiations along with some famous Russian politicians expressly stated that for the sake of the soonest entrance to the WTO Russia would not immolate its interests and depart from the parameters already agreed upon.
