    Of late a bifurcation of the macroeconomic strategy has been marked in Russia. On the one hand, the orientation to the oil-and-gas sector bringing huge export proceeds is going on. As a result President Putin was allowed to announce the policy of Russia’s turning into «an energy superpower» and to stake on energy as best card in the coming G-8 summit. On the other hand, a threat for Russia to be turned into an energy appendage not only to the Western nations but also to new industrialized countries which are advancing farther in the field of science-intensive technologies is being more and more apprehended.
