    Stone-carving art came to Kievan Rus from Byzantium. From time to time the interest to carved stones faded away and the renewed interest was then inspired. Nowadays, we are the witnesses of another glyptic Renaissance. Christian cameo-icons present a special trend of this art. Having been for long purely sacred and rather uncommon items, today Christian cameos are turning back to secular life bringing beauty and high spiritual tunes.
    Cameo carving is not within every craftsman’s range. It may take years to get the necessary skills. Therefore, all pieces of glyptic art are unique and each of them has its own identity. Svyatoslav Nikitenko is one of the contemporary singular stone-carvers....
