    This year the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), the oldest university in Siberia, marks its centenary. Set up in 1896 the university has won fame for its well established traditions of training high proficiency engineers. Over the recent century the university has trained more than one thousand certified specialists, of whom three hundred alumni have became academicians and winners of the most prestigious prizes. In recognition of its services to national science and education the Siberian Alma Mater has been added to the list of very important objects of social heritage of Russia’s peoples.
