SMALL COAL SUPPLIERS WILL BOOST STEAM COAL MARKET

    Kuznetsk coal basin (Kemerovo Region) ranks first by its coking coal reserves in Russia, while Krasnoyarsk Territory is the richest steam coal source, where major coal reserves are concentrated in Kansk-Achinsk coal basin. Both mining areas are rather important for the country’s economy. Coking coal reserves of Kuznestk basin are estimated at $ 1,113 billion, while steam coal reserves of Krasnoyarsk Territory – at $ 705 billion. As the world steam coal market prices are half the price of coking coals the importance of Kansk-Achinsk reserves seems even greater.
